(Tyrannidae; Ϯ Rufous Casiornis C. rufus) Gr. κασια kasia  cinnamon tree; ορνις ornis, ορνιθος ornithos  bird; "GENRE CASIORNIS ... C. cinnamomeus, supra fuscior, subtus dilutior" (des Murs 1856); "Casiornis Des Murs (ex Bonaparte MS) 1856, in Castelnau, Expéd. Amér. Sud, Zool., 1, Ois. (1855), p. 55. Type, by monotypy, Casiornis typus Des Murs = Thamnophilus rufus Vieillot." (Snow in Peters, 1979, VIII, p. 190).
