DEFINITIONS

EUGERYGONE
(Petroicidae; Ϯ Garnet Robin E. rubra) Gr. ευ eu  fine; genus Gerygone Gould, 1841, gerygone; "Eugerygone, n. gen.  Typus: Pseudogerygone rubra Sharpe.  Durch längere, spitzere Flügel und den viel längeren abgestuften Schwanz leicht von Pseudogerygone zu unterscheiden; im Habitus mehr an Rhipidura erinnernd.  Schnabel wie bei Pseudogerygone (rufescens Salvad.), aber fast ohne Mundwinkelhaare (nur ein Haar bemerkbar, die übrigen vielleicht fehlend).  Die Spitzen der Handschwingen ragen beträchtlich vor, ca. ⅓ der Länge des Oberflügels; 3te bis 5te Schwinge die längste; 2te = der 7ten; 1te etwas kürzer als ½ der 2ten.  Schwanz so lang als der Flügel bis zum Ende der Armschwingen; die vier äusseren Federn jederseits abgestuft."
