CLANGA
(Accipitridae; Greater Spotted Eagle C. clanga) Gr. κλαγγος klangos  eagle (cf. specific name Aquila clanga Pallas, 1811); "Ces observations concernent principalement les mœurs du Vultur fulvus et cinereus, du Pygargus, suivies de la proposition de former un nouveau genre Clanga, subdivisé en trois espèces: Clanga nœvia (Falco maculatus, Gmelini), C. fasciata et C. macrodactyla (v. der Muhle)" (Adamowicz 1858); "Clanga Adamowicz, 1858, Rev. Mag. Zool.,  sér. 2, IX, p. 604.  Type, by tautonymy, Falco maculatus Gmelin, 1788 (not of Tunstall, 1771) = Aquila clanga Pallas, 1811." (per Gregory and Dickinson, 2012, Bull. British Ornith.
