Drosselspecht.  Lichtenstein hat in seiner Abhandlung über Dendrocolaptes eine Species dieses Genus unter dem Namen turdinus aufgeführt, welche sich durch ihren Schnabelbau sehr von den wahren Baumhackern unterscheidet. |Ich würde für sie den von Vieillot gegebenen Namen Dendrocopus gewählt haben, wenn Boie nicht denselben anderweitig benutzt hätte.  ...  er macht also einen vollkommen natürlichen Uebergang von dem vorhergehenden [Tinactor] zu dem nachfolgenden [Dendrocolaptes] Genus" (zu Wied 1831); "Dryocopus (not of BOIE 1826) WIED, Beitr.
