(Elliot 1864); "Falcipennis Elliot, Proc. Acad. Nat. Sci. Phila., 1864, p. 23. Type, by monotypy, Falcipennis hartlaubii Elliot = Tetrao falcipennis Hartlaub." (Peters, 1934, II, p. 36).
