(Cacatuidae; Galah E. roseicapillus) Gr. εως eōs or ηως  ēōs  dawn; λοφος lophos  crest; the pink-crested Galah is a familiar cockatoo of Australia, whose name has entered the slang dictionary as a term for a noisy fool; "Subfam. X. PLYCTOLOPHINÆ.   61. EOLOPHUS, Bp.  —  253. Roseus, Vieill." (Bonaparte 1854); "Eolophus Bonaparte, Rev. et Mag. Zool. (2), 6, 1854, p. 155. Type, by monotypy, Cacatua rosea Vieillot = Cacatua roseicapilla Vieillot." (Peters, 1937, III, p. 179).
