(Apodidae; Ϯ Silver-rumped Spine-tail Swift R. leucopygialis) Gr. ῥαφις rhaphis, ῥαφιδος rhaphidos  needle  < ῥαπτω rhaptō  to sew; ουρα oura  tail; "Genus RHAPHIDURA, Oates.   406.
