(Trochilidae; Amethyst-throated Hummingbird L. amethystinus) Gr. λαμπη lampē  torch, light; ορνις ornis, ορνιθος ornithos  bird; "G. LAMPORNIS.  Swainson in Zool. Journ. No. 10.   100. Lampornis amethystinus. Sw.   Green; chin and upper part of the throat amethystine; ears black, margined above with white; tail black.  Female?  Tableland.  Temiscaltipec.  Real del Monte."
